Picked this book up upon recommendation, but hadn t heard of it or the series before reading The idea of befriending gargoyles that come alive sounded unique, and hey it s set in Toronto Why not The experience that I had in reading through this book was much pleasant than I imagined it would be, and I fell in love with the story and its characters It s not a book that s attempting to be one in the next great adventure series it presents itself as a retelling of an average boy s not so average e [...]

I really enjoyed this book I loved the way it was written so realistically At first this book didn t really catch my interest because it just sounded silly, and plain old boring but I was proven wrong Near the end and though out the book you really got a sense on how much Christopher cared for the gargoyles and that just made me happy I wish that the chapters were longer so then there could be a little suspense and not just have little event after little event At times I thought this book was b [...]

This was a really great book I wish that I had read the other two first but this book was written in a way that it didn t matter if you had read the other two, it still made sense The only thing that I really wondered about was how big the gargoyles were I would recommend this to people who like fantasy books that are written realistically so that it seems that it actually happened.

    4. Falaksomani says:

      Awesome it was just awesome

    5. Sissy says:

This was a really good book and the boys curiosity was really great The gargoyles especially were phenomenal because of the talents and their history.

    6. Ariana says:

I REALLY liked this book It was actually one of my favourite books of all time I will for sure be reading the other books in the series I really liked how the author made up a very distinct character and personality for each and every gargoyle It was also very interesting to read about gargoyles I have heard about them but not in great detail so it was a nice surprise to finally read a book about them I admired the characters compassion and love for the gargoyles and really not willing to settle [...]

    7. Bobbi Miller says:

What an engaging series When Christopher moves to Toronto, he finds life is very different from his home in Vancouver Not only does he have no friends, he finds that Toronto is very creepy Dowding creates a spooktacular setting, describing the gargoyles standing guard on the gateposts to the little park Strange whispers come from behind the bushes, and apples mysteriously fling themselves at his window in the middle of the night Something howls at the moon Christopher discovers something ancient [...]

What a delightful read I was not familiar with this series but saw it on my home page feed from one of my friends comments I am very glad that I did Through the magic of downloadable books I read it over the last 2 3 hours and what a wonderful time it was.The books have some down to earth reality to them but also beautiful magical fantasy too I have a soft spot for gargoyles and so especially enjoyed the series I think I will read the other two even though I have just finished the third of the t [...]

I can t tell you how happy I am to have discovered this little series of books about gargoyles set in Toronto It was charming and endearing Toronto was truly timeless I loved trying to discover where things were taking place in the city The main characters were good, decent, heartwarming without being false or sugary It was a a magical story without being contrived I am sad that the story journey has come to an end hopefully just for now I shall miss everyone in the story I am definitely a fan o [...]

Philippa Dowding s playful writing and ability to capture the minds, hearts, and imagination of young people continues, in this latest book in the series It s a delight to read out loud for parents and children alike It s sure to please and great for vocabulary expansion as well Great book for kids

    11. JulieLaLa says:

What a lovely story Third and last in the series, this book made me so happy Wonderfully written, with new and sympathetic characters who added history and dimensions to our beloved story, and still, some danger suspense from the evil Collector I admit to shedding a few tears at the end, but that s a good thing I m glad this series was featured on the Overdrive e book lending library

    12. Carol says:

This is the author s third book in this series Haven t read the first two, but I plan to now A very inventive story, well written, good characterizations and thoroughly engrossing A quick read but an enjoyable one, no matter what your age.

    13. Shreya says:

      Awesome Such a cool book

    14. Jo says:

Read in order Perfect read aloud for a class Canadian Fun fantasy concept not too far out that it could leave the reader wondering about the gargoyles seen on buildings and gates.

    15. Edita Petrick says:

This is a fairly interesting young reader novel about a group of stone gargoyles that somehow come to life later on it is suggested that it was the stone mason who carved them that made them live but this part is never explained in a way that a 12 year old mystery lover would understand and be satisfied. There is a jarring locale shift from England to Toronto, with totally unrelated protagonists who eventually do connect after a fashion but once again this part is a little thin on clarity and 12 [...]

    16. Bibiana Rolston says:

This is the second Philippa Dowding gargoyle book I have read It is a well written book about a potentially interesting topic Who doesn t want to believe that inanimate objects can possibly come to life Unfortunately, the action is limited and very repetitive The bad Collector is skulking around wanting to kidnap the gargoyles.

    17. Polly says:

Cute, but somehow lacking what magic the earlier gargoyle books had, I m not sure why maybe it s just me Definitely worth reading if you read and liked the other two, as it does wrap everything nicely up, and I m all for a happy ending for gargoyles.
