2.5 stars I m actually pretty sad that I didn t like this story , because A the writing was really, really good, and B I just loved Kong, the hundred pound malamute with delusions of being a lap dog But the characters and the plot Good God, they frustrated the bejesus out of me I didn t buy Drew s story at all I didn t buy his reasons for leaving Hill seven years ago I didn t even buy that his feelings for Hill were as strong as he claimed them to be Who leaves the love of their life without eve [...]

3.5 stars I m a huge fan of second chance at love stories so I was very enthusiastic to read The Stockings Were Hung by Cassie Sweet And I liked it, it was my first book by this author and I already have my eyes on a couple of stories by her I found this new holiday release engaging with well defined characters, even the secondary ones, plus a too cute dog It could have easily been the perfect story, the one with all the elements I enjoy reading about There was just a couple of problems first of [...]

The Stockings Were Hung is not your typical Christmas story if there is such a thing What I mean is that Hill and Drew have some real issues to deal with, there is lots of drama and whining, and while there is some hope at the end of the very long and very dark tunnel of their relationship, there is no fluff, no mushiness, and microscopic amounts of joy In that sense, this story is a perfect example of an overwhelming Bah Humbug factor.However.What is also very clear is that neither Hill nor Dre [...]

Wow, I need way grovelling to get past 7 years of just walking out without an explanation And the cousin friend sets it up Surely she was complicit in this When he kissed him and just expected him to fall into his arms and take up where they left off Are you dreaming man What kind of weird ass world do you live in 7 years without a word and then boom, let s pretend it didn t happen And Hill was too damn stupid to agree to go on this trip I would have blocked the number, told him to get lost and [...]

    5. Lelyana says:

This is not what I expected my Christmas story feels like.A stupid decision for leaving you spouse for seven years because you didn t now about the word communication Lame.To me, Hill was weak, and Drew was just a selfish asshole Can t he just let Hill know what he felt about their relationship instead of missing And came to Hill, again, and arrange for a best Christmas ever and expected Hill to coming back to him Sadly, yes Doh Just because this is a holiday story and the writing is good, I was [...]

It may just be me but this holiday short left me feeling sad Actually the whole story, even the ending left me depressed It didn t deliver what I look for in a holiday read I want hope and magic and most of all an HEA Even though as the story stands it didn t work for me I thought it had so much potential 1 Give me something of Hill and Drew s relationship before the break up.2 Shorten the years of their separation, 7 years is just way too long.3 A sweet reunion after some much needed communicat [...]

    7. The Novel Approach Reviews says:

3.5 Stars I m a sucker for a good second chance story, and this one satisfied Hill is a Seasonal grump thanks to some old relationship woes, and Drew seems to be a bit of a chronic non communicator Cassie Sweet gives us the opportunity to see these two give their relationship a second try after a bad break up and some very hurt feelings.Cassie Sweet writes some wonderful characters in this short They re sympathetic and likeable, and man, is it easy to enter into their heartache The plot is solid [...]

    8. Lillian Francis says:

Gah, I m conflicted about this one The writing is good, and I love a friends lovers to enemies to lovers story The idea was fine but the motivation for Drew s actions all those years ago wasn t strong enough to be believeable And even if it had been, the story needed to be longer for Drew to prove himself.

    9. Lioness7 says:

I hoped this book would be good when I read what it was about It seemed like something that would start sad and maybe end up with a happy ending I won t tell you the end, but the beginning fit the bill You could feel how much Hill loved Drew and how upset he still was at the way Drew left Part of me wanted him to say no and not give out a second chance The other part of me wanted a happily ever after I enjoyed the book quite a bit I found parts of it to be funny You have to love a dog that loves [...]

I liked this one a lot Although I, like Hill, was not sure forgiveness should be on the holiday menu I think the reason Drew went was not as well explained as it could be a short flashback or two might have helped here but I really liked the idea that Drew did not regret it even though Hill did not understand it This is one of those holiday stories that begs to be made into a full novel with complex relationships, second chances, and how you move beyond forgiveness Recommended I m loving the Bah [...]

    11. Katy Beth Mckee says:

Letting one person make or brake your feelings on the holiday you are opening yourself to years of hurt and grumpiness And this is just what Hill has done But learning to forgive and love again won t always be easy either This story is about finding the potential in trying again but reconnecting on a mature level.

    12. Suze says:

A fairly gentle tale of Scrooge like Hill and how his heart was hardened by Drew abandining him at Christmas. It is now 7 years later and Drew is back Hill gives him his second chance but I m not sure I would have done so easy A nice Christmas story, good addition to the advent calendar short and sweet but would have liked background on both characters

    13. jules0623 says:

2.5 stars Good writing generally Cassie Sweet is always reliable for that but Drew was an assmunch His reasoning was ridiculous and Hill was a fool to settle for his pathetic excuses.

    14. Sara says:

3 HeartsThis was sweet but it left me wanting.Drew left seven years ago to learn to be his own man without being part of Drew and Hill and tore Hill s heart out I get the being lost in a relationship and wanting to find out who you are without the other person that somehow now defines who you are It s not the fault of your lover, it s just what happens when people become a couple, you go from Drew to Drew and Hill or Hill s Drew etc so I get that he left I don t like how he left and that he neve [...]

    15. Theodora IK says:

I need this story expanded From the beginning to the end of the story, my heart hurt for Hill and I was angry with Drew He came back and expected Hill to forgive and accept him after breaking Hill s heart The way he broke their relationship was stupid and cruel, and he needed to do a shit ton of groveling and making amends He didn t regret going away, fine, but he had to know the extent of the pain he gave Hill Also, I think there s problem between his parents and Hill to solve. The ending works [...]

    16. Sarina says:

Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.I love a good second chance story and there s just something about the Christmas season that makes reading one seem so much better I found the premise of the story really appealing two men separated for almost a decade suddenly reunited right before Christmas I really felt for Hill s character Drew was pretty much the love of his life and seven years after he d left, Hill still wasn t over the man and every Christmas since was merely something to be tolerate [...]

    17. Sylvia says:

Loved Kong The story itself hmm was just okayI just don t like it when one the MC s is gone for a long time in this case it was 7 years and suddenly there back wanting there old boyfriend again because they never stopped loving caring for them I just find that unbelievable it s just one off my pet peeve s

    18. Kragthang says:

The story itself was written very well But I disliked the way it was presented The reason Drew originally left Hill might have made sense at the time he left But why wait seven years to get back in contact, if Hill was the love of his life I m a bit unforgiving at times and this would have been a topic I would be reaaaaaaaaaally unforgiving about The way Hill gave in to Drew s whims, even though he tried to be resistant was rather absurd from my perspectice.

    19. Erica says:

The writing was amazing but the story made me want to throw things.

    20. Tori Thompson says:

The writing was good, but the plot and characters were not
