Travelogue is usually not a favorite genre of mine But I must say that I really liked this novel Unlike , another famous novel and the only other novel by Bibhutibhushan that I ve read, it has a consistent and gripping storyline The thrills would keep your adrenalin level high throughout The author had never been to Africa, even though his vivid description of wilderness exploration amazed me black mamba I think that was the best scene in the novel when our protagonist woke up in the middle of a [...]

This is one of the greatest novels written for young minds in world literature The same goosepimples keep returning as i read this novel again, even after three decades The savage panorama of the African continent, the myth of the abominable beast and the lure of unconquerable treasure blends into a unforgettable story of the human desire for discovery I can hardly compare a similar book where so much drama and information has been packed in so few pages One day i hope to see a big, big budget f [...]

This book is an English translation of Chander pahad by famed Bengali novelist Blbhutibhushan Bandhopadhyay in which he has explored the magic and mystery of Africa Reminded me of King Solomon s mines by Rider Haggard as the protagonist Shankar sets out on an expedition to find diamonds The author had kept geographical details accurate as mentioned by him in the preface of the book Enjoyable read of a good translation by Shantanu Sinha Chaudhari.

I liked reading this book, for the unknown worlds it takes you to The artwork is good enough, and the writing, swift like it has a limited number of pages to tell the story in.
